The Basics of Anti Aging Skin Treatments
Sooner or later the majority of women begin to look for anti aging skin treatments in order to hold off the approach of Father Time. Wrinkles and discoloration are two common complaints. If you are reaching this stage of your life or are already there, read on to learn more about anti aging skin care. Regardless of your age, you have a skin type. This may be normal, dry, oily, combination or sensitive. Sensitive skin may have a secondary type like dry or oily. Most of the time mature skin tends to be dry. However sufferers of adult acne may have oily or combination skin.
Before looking for anything thing else, the primary need of a skin care regimen is the cleanser. Choosing a cleanser is a personal choice that depends on skin type and preferences. Some women like a scented cleanser, others want fragrance free. There are cleansers in every consistency including lotion, gel, cream, oil, milk and water. The most innovative cleansing waters don't even need to be rinsed and can dissolve dirt and makeup with just a swipe. There are also cleansing towelettes that require no rinsing.
Many women prefer to use a toner after cleansing, especially if they feel the skin is dirty. Toners perk up skin and remove the last traces of dirt, oil and cleanser residue. There are moisturizing toners for dry skin and astringent toners for oily skin. One of the cheapest and most natural astringents is witch hazel. After toning you'll apply your treatment, which should be tailored to your skin issues. There are anti aging serums, lotions and creams from which you can choose. This is also a good time to apply eye cream.
The key to putting on your eye cream is to pat dots of the cream circling your eyes with your ring or index finger until the cream is absorbed. The ring finger is the weakest, therefore you won't pull too hard or tug on the delicate skin. Look for an all-in-one eye cream that takes care of wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles if these are all issues for you.
Moisturizer and sunscreen are the finishing touches to the anti aging skin treatments. Even oily skin needs moisturizer, however if you fall into this category go for a moisturizer that is hypoallergenic and made for your skin type. There are light oil absorbing moisturizers and moisturizer gels. Dry skin will need a lotion or cream. After moisturizing apply sunscreen if your product does not contain it. Protection against sun damage is probably the number one way to avoid dry, wrinkled and discolored skin.
